New Driveways and Resin Driveways in Stoke On Trent

Whatever surface you have in mind, we prepare the ground properly first. Here is what we lay, and what each one is good for.

New Driveways in Stoke On Trent

Most driveway enquiries start one of two ways: an old drive that has had its day, or a family with more cars than parking. We build new driveways from scratch and extend existing ones, then finish them in whichever surface suits the house.

If you already know what you want, tell us. If you are still deciding, we will talk you through block paving, resin, tarmac, gravel and concrete so you can compare them for your own drive.

What the work can include

  • Taking up the old surface
  • Preparing the ground
  • Extending to fit more vehicles
  • Paths and edging to match

Good to tell us

  • Roughly how big the drive is
  • How many cars it needs to hold
  • The surface you have in mind
  • Any photos of the drive now

Resin Driveways and Resin Bound Driveways

Resin driveways have a neat, seamless look, and they are a popular choice for front drives and paths. On a resin bound drive the stone and resin are mixed together before they go down, so every stone is coated and the surface holds firm.

That is the main difference from resin bonded, where loose stone is scattered onto a layer of resin. A resin bound driveway stays permeable, so rainwater soaks through rather than sitting on top, and it asks for less looking after.

Why people choose resin

  • Seamless, smooth finish
  • Water drains through it
  • Less maintenance
  • Works for paths as well as drives

Finishing touches

  • A choice of stone colours
  • Block paved borders
  • Edging to suit the house
  • A matching path to the door

Block Paving Driveways

Block paving gives you more say in how a drive looks than any other surface here. Traditional reds, modern greys, herringbone runs, contrast borders and inlays can all be mixed, which is why no two of our drives look quite alike.

It is practical as well. If a block gets damaged or an oil leak marks it, that block can be lifted out and replaced without disturbing the rest of the drive.

Styles we lay

  • Herringbone patterns
  • Contrast borders
  • Bands and inlays
  • Curved edges around lawns

Why it lasts well

  • A prepared base under the blocks
  • Single blocks can be replaced
  • Low upkeep once it is down
  • Traditional or modern colours

Tarmac Driveways

Tarmac is the same family of material used on our roads, so a family car or two is well within what it can take. It is a sensible, affordable option that needs very little attention once it has been laid.

We lay hot tarmac in black or red. Because it can be shaped while it is warm, it follows curves and awkward corners easily, and it looks especially smart inside a block paved border like the one in the photo.

Why choose tarmac

  • Copes well with vehicle weight
  • Quick to lay and set
  • Little ongoing maintenance
  • Fits awkward shapes

Your options

  • Black or red
  • Block paved borders
  • Paths and hard standing
  • Full new drives

Gravel Driveways

If you want a new drive without a big bill, gravel is the place to start. It goes down faster than any other surface here and costs the least, and it comes in plenty of colours and grades.

We recommend putting a good geotextile membrane under the stone. It keeps weeds down and keeps the gravel apart from the ground below, so the drive stays looking tidy for longer.

Why choose gravel

  • The lowest cost surface
  • Fast to install
  • Many colours and grades
  • Water drains away naturally

What goes in

  • Ground preparation
  • Geotextile weed membrane
  • Edging to hold the stone
  • Your choice of gravel

Concrete Driveways

Concrete suits anyone who wants a solid, no-fuss surface for a drive or a hard standing. Like every drive we lay, it depends on what is underneath, so the ground gets prepared before anything is poured.

Tell us how the drive will be used and we will talk through whether concrete is the right call, or whether block paving, tarmac or resin would serve you better.

Good for

  • Everyday parking
  • Hard standing
  • Side access and runs to a garage
  • A plain, simple finish

Worth talking through

  • The size of the area
  • Falls and drainage
  • Access for the work
  • Other surfaces to compare

Driveway Resurfacing

A drive that has cracked, faded or filled with weeds does not always need the same fix. Where the ground below is sound, a new top surface may be all it takes. Where it is not, the old drive comes out so the new one has something solid to sit on.

We will look at your drive, explain which of those it is, and quote for that. One customer in Leek simply asked us to make their drive look better, and that is a perfectly good place to start.

Common reasons to resurface

  • Cracks and potholes
  • Faded or stained surfaces
  • Weeds in the joints
  • Old concrete that has failed

What happens next

  • We look at the drive
  • We explain the options
  • You get a quote
  • Old surface out if needed

Patios and Fencing Too

A driveway is often part of a bigger plan for the outside of the house, so we also lay patios and put up fencing. Mention it when you get in touch and we can quote for it all together.
